Rosangela Sanfilippo Resumil Ms. Sanfilippo was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 1980. She attended primary and elementary school at Colegio Puertorriqueño de Niñas in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, where she graduated from High School with honors (Valedictorian) in 1996. She then majored in Pre-Legal Studies at the University of Puerto Rico, graduating Magna Cum Laude in May 2000. Thereafter she attended the University of Puerto Rico School of Law, where she obtained her Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude, in May 2003. In the year 2004 Ms. Sanfilippo joined the Puerto Rico Bar Association and was admitted to practice to the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico. During the year 1999, while an undergraduate student at the University of Puerto Rico, Ms. Sanfilippo interned at the U.S. House of Representatives with the Puerto Rico Resident Commissioner, Hon. Carlos Romero Barceló. Later that year, during her first year of law school Ms. Sanfilippo clerked for the Hon. Miriam Naveira, then Associate Justice, later Chief Justice for the Puerto Rico Supreme Court. Two years later she had the opportunity to complement the state appellate court experience with a clerkship in federal trial court, as judicial clerk for the Hon. Justo Arenas, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico. During the year 2000 Ms. Sanfilippo worked as Special Aide to the Administrator of the P.R. Administration of Juvenile Institutions. There she contributed to the agency’s policies and procedures manual required to achieve accreditation by the American Correctional Association. During the course of obtaining her law degree Ms. Sanfilippo worked as a law clerk at the law firm of Indiano & Williams, where she did litigation work in both federal and local court. She also clerked at, and later joined, the law firm of O’Neill & Borges as an associate in its Labor Department. There she developed experience representing corporate clients in employment litigation and counseling them regarding the application of employment laws to the workplace. In the year 2005, together with attorney Sylmarie Arizmendi, Ms. Sanfilippo founded the law firm of Arizmendi & Sanfilippo, where she has continued to represent employers in litigation both before federal and local courts and agencies, and to provide integrated employment law counseling. Ms. Sanfilippo is also an active member of the Federal Bar Association, the American Bar Association Young Lawyers and Labor and Employment Law Sections.
